CHARLOTTE — The Orange County District Attorney’s Office says the remaining charges will be dropped after pro-Palestinian protests earlier this year on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus.
Prosecutors announced last week that the charges will be dismissed against the protesters. The decision came right before some trials were set to begin.
Channel 9 reported in April and May when protests took place at campuses in North Carolina. On April 30, demonstrators were arrested when the Palestine flag was raised on campus, leading to chaos.

After the protests in Chapel Hill, students in Charlotte set up a makeshift encampment to occupy a space on campus and show support for Palestine. In a message sent to students, the chancellor said the protesters violated several university buildings when they “chose to erect tents, fencing, displays, and other structures.”
