Reality TV star accused of failing to pay taxes, rent for his uptown bars

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Claims of hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid taxes, unpaid rent and unpaid employees are centered around two uptown bars.

Real Housewives of Atlanta reality TV star Peter Thomas is finding himself in serious financial trouble with federal authorities.

According to our partners at the Charlotte Business Journal, Thomas' uptown business Sports One on North College Street is closed because of $237,000 in unpaid federal taxes, leaving those who worked for the business out of job and wondering if they will even get paid.

According to the lawsuit, Sports One owes unemployment and payroll taxes from December 2016 to 2017.

Eyewitness News anchor Damany Lewis dug a little deeper and learned Thomas is also being sued for $126,000 for another property.

According to the civil suit, Thomas leased Bar One on North College Street right next door to Sports Bar One.

The suit claims Thomas wrote bad checks, failed to pay rent and taxes, and ripped out bathrooms and failed to renovate the space.

Channel 9 attempted to reach out to Thomas, but we were not able to get ahold of him. Our crew also stopped by his other business Club One to talk to the managers, but no one answered the door.
