CHARLOTTE — Peter Thomas was sentenced to over a year in federal prison this week.

Thomas, who is the ex-husband of a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, pleaded guilty to not paying over $2.5 million in employment taxes for restaurants and nightclubs in Charlotte, Miami, and Baltimore, according to the Department of Justice.

The DoJ says Thomas was also ordered to pay $2,526,131.99 in restitution to the IRS.

Prosecutors said Thomas used the money on “cash withdrawals, travel, real estate purchases, and retail purchases” instead of paying employment taxes.

Thomas formerly owned a couple of bars and lounges in Charlotte, including Club ONE, which used to be near the Music Factory. He was once married to Cynthia Bailey, who has been on the Real Housewives of Atlanta since 2010.
