CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A number of new multifamily developments are in the works across the Charlotte area.
Several rezoning petitions with a multifamily component were filed in recent weeks in the city of Charlotte alone. That includes a new project in the booming University area calling for as many as 350 apartments and 30 townhouses on Senator Royall Drive as well as plans for up to 287 apartment units on a 2.1-acre site next to Birdsong Brewing Co. on North Davidson Street.
Other projects farther away from the city and still in the midst of the planning process include a controversial proposal that could bring nearly 300 apartments to a Union County site as well as a mixed-use development that would incorporate nearly 400 multifamily units and 50 townhouses as part of The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery’s planned location in Cornelius.
Meanwhile, another mixed-use project centered around a 204-unit apartment complex in Mooresville is expected to break ground in the second quarter of this year.
And additional single-family residential projects are also taking shape in communities across the region, such as Monroe, Gastonia and Cornelius.
