CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte area saw plans progress on a plethora of new residential projects to begin the new year.
In University City, for example, a co-living apartment community is now underway. Other upcoming projects in that area of Charlotte include up to 712 apartments on University City Boulevard, a mixed-use development with as many as 300 apartments and 132 townhouses on Prosperity Church Road, up to 157 duplex, triplex and single-family units at IBM Drive and Neal Road, and 63 residential units on Galloway Road — all four of which were approved by Charlotte City Council in January. A rezoning petition to convert two buildings at the TownePlace Suites Charlotte University Research Park property into housing was also filed last month with the city.
Elsewhere in Charlotte, yet another new apartment project is planned in South End, new apartments will break ground later this year in phase two of Camp North End and work is finishing up on a luxury apartment community just west of uptown.
And several additional residential projects in the greater Charlotte region, including in Rock Hill, Lancaster, Kannapolis, Huntersville, Pineville, Kings Mountain and Monroe, are in the works.
