RALEIGH, N.C. — A Delta flight, going from Raleigh to New York, was forced to make an emergency landing after a woman tried to open the plane's door.
"5935, like to declare an emergency, forward entry door's open. We'll need crash, fire, rescue," the pilot said over dispatch.

Passengers said the woman was in hysterics and was yelling and tried to open the plane's cabin door.
They said many of them were terrified by the woman's shrieks of emotional distress.
Officials said the 20-year-old's father was able to pull her away from the door and the situation was over in less than 2 minutes.
"5935, cancel the crash, fire, rescue. Everything is under control now. We're going to be taxiing to the gate," the pilot said over dispatch.
At the gate, New York Port Authority Police took the woman to a hospital for an evaluation.

Authorities said the aircraft door is designed not to open in midflight and that negative pressure will not allow the door to open.
