Public paychecks: Who are Mecklenburg County’s highest-paid employees?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — From sheriffs to librarians to social workers, the average salary for employees of Mecklenburg County is close to $60,000.

County manager Dena Diorio is Mecklenburg County’s highest-paid employee, with an annual salary of about $344,000. She is followed by chief medical examiner Dr. Thomas Owens, county attorney Tyrone Wade, assistant county manager for sustainable communities Leslie Johnson and Meg Sullivan, medical director.
