Protesters act against Gaston County commissioner over social media post

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Protesters gathered Monday outside the Gaston County Courthouse demanding a Confederate statue, which has been there since 1912, be moved or destroyed.

“I was completely appalled,” said Jamal Gillespie, with the Gaston County Freedom Fighters. “I was shocked, honestly, to see that it was posted on his commissioner’s page.”
