CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Prominent Charlotte jeweler Benjamin Abraham was sentenced in federal court Friday to three years in prison because he scammed people out of millions of dollars.

Agents said instead of using the money the way he claimed he would, he used the bulk of it to make payments to previous victims.
He then paid back other pre-existing debts and pay for unrelated business expenses and personal expenditures.
In other words, he spent the money himself.
