CHARLOTTE — Tuesday was graduation day for some of Mecklenburg County’s youngest students -- the children finishing pre-K.
The day was particularly meaningful for one family.
Graduate Devon Breazell Jr.’s parents, Patrice and Devon Sr., told Channel 9 they were glad they enrolled their son in Childcare Network, which is part of Meck Pre-K. The free program is supported by the county and operates on a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools schedule.

“It’s been amazing. He comes home, tells us new stuff everyday,” Devon Sr. said.
Tenille Banner is a Meck Pre-K communications coordinator.
“It’s great because there is no income eligibility,” Banner said. “As long as you’re a resident of Mecklenburg County and the child turns four by Aug. 31, that’s all they need to enroll.”
