CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman is facing charges after police said she was responsible for a crash that killed a motorcyclist Monday morning in South End.
Investigators said a Nissan Altima driven by Linda Caldwell was heading south on South Boulevard near East Boulevard when the car tried to make a lefthand turn. Police said a Harley Davidson driven by Cerveria Stanton was heading north on South Boulevard and collided into the side of the Nissan as it turned, throwing him from his motorcycle.

Stanton was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. Officers said he was wearing a helmet.
The wreck happened around 11:15 a.m. and closed the road for hours.
Investigators said evidence gathered at the scene indicated that the failure to yield the right of way by the Nissan was the cause of the crash.
Caldwell was placed under arrest and charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
The crash remains under investigation.
