CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man died when he was ejected from his car Sunday morning in the 3700 block of The Plaza in Charlotte, police said.
Rashad Lamar Waller, 28, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers arrived around 4:30 a.m. near Sweetbriar Street, where a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was overturned and on fire.
Investigators said it appears the car crossed the centerline and went into the oncoming lanes as it exited the curve on The Plaza and then went off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the crash, but it is unknown if alcohol was involved.
According to witness statements, it is likely another car hit Waller after he was ejected, police said.
Officials said two passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash.
