HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police have identified the woman killed in a crash that closed a portion of Highway 73 in Huntersville for hours early Saturday morning.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 5 a.m. near Blythe Landing Park between Norman View Lane and Babe Stillwell Farm Road.
According to Huntersville police, Molly Fairall, 55, drove off the road, crashed into a utility pole and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fairall's passenger, 54-year-old James Ritchie Jr., was transported to Novant Hospital in Charlotte with injuries but is expected to be OK.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The road reopened around 10 a.m.
