Portion of I-85 briefly shut down after crash involving several vehicles

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A portion of Interstate 85 was briefly shut down Wednesday afternoon after a crash involving multiple vehicles, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Authorities responded to the scene on I-85 southbound just past City Boulevard. Officials said all lanes were closed and that drivers should expect significant delays.

Police have not said how the crash happened or if anyone was hurt in the collision.

The interstate reopened before 4:45 p.m.
