Officials said police were responding to a call nearby and were close enough to hear the gunshots, so they were able to respond to the scene immediately.
When officers got to the area, they found 27-year-old Ebony Harrison, who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Corey Vega, 23, has been charged with her murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said there were a lot of people at the party, and spoke to several witnesses.
Harrison's older sister told Channel 9's Erin Edwards that she was a loving person, who would give someone the shirt off her back is they asked for it.
Lisa Crawford with Mothers of Murdered Offspring said, "Devastated. Devastated. This person was here yesterday. They had no idea they would never be here again.”
Mothers of Murdered Offspring is a group that helps families who have lost someone they love due to gunfire and now they are helping Harrison's family.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Unit and ALE officers also responded to help investigate.
Channel 9 went through all 98 homicides in Charlotte this year and there have been six others within one mile of Reagan Drive.
We have covered the community efforts to stop all the violent crime in the area. They launched the Reagan Drive Initiative earlier this year. City leaders, police and nearby business owners are part of it.
They try to focus on community events and youth programs that will promote non-violence.
"To have an arrest, it doesn’t change anything. She’s never going to be here again, but at least we can start to understand what happened in this situation and how did we get here," Crawford said.
