Police: 2 Charlotte teens steal car warming up

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged two 15-year-old boys with larceny of a motor vehicle.

Metro Division responded to a call Wednesday morning in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, the victim told police her car had been parked in the driveway warming up with the keys in the ignition. When she went back outside the vehicle was gone.

The car was observed by a Freedom Drive patrol officer near the intersection of Tuckaseegee Road and Julian Lane. According to police, the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused to pull over and fled the scene.

The two suspects jumped from vehicle and were later arrested.

The juveniles were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, felony conspiracy, resist obstruct and delay, failure to heed blue lights and siren, and damage to property.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending.
