ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police took a man into custody Tuesday morning after they said he barricaded himself inside a Rock Hill home a day after assaulting his girlfriend.
Police officers and SWAT responded to the home on East Black Street around 7:30 a.m.
Police told Channel 9 reporter Greg Suskin they received a call from a woman on East Black Street on Monday about a case of domestic violence. According to officers, the woman told them her boyfriend, Ramon Hope, assaulted her and wouldn’t let her leave the house. Once Hope, 40, left the house, the woman called 911.
Officers responded and issued warrants for Hope’s arrest.
They returned to the home Tuesday morning to serve those warrants. They said Hope was in the house and would not come out.
Eyewitness News could see dozens of officers, including the SWAT Team, Bomb Squad and armored trucks on the scene, and East Black Street was blocked for nearly an hour.
Hope finally surrendered peacefully around 9 a.m.
