Woman charged with assaulting elderly man at QuikTrip on Thanksgiving

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Matthews police have arrested and charged a woman after they said she assaulted an elderly man at a QuickTrip store last month.

Officers responded to the store on Monroe Road at around 11:40 a.m. on Thanksgiving. The victim said a woman had asked him for money while inside the store, but then she got mad when he said he didn’t have any.

Police said as the victim was leaving the store, the woman confronted him in the parking lot and assaulted him. According to authorities, she hit him and pushed him to the ground, causing minor injuries to his face and hand.

Officers said during the course of their investigation, detectives used tips from the public to identify the suspect as 24-year-old Cheyenne Adriana Hines. Authorities got an arrest warrant for the charge of assault and battery and Hines was taken into custody on Sunday.

No other details have been released.
