CHARLOTTE — A deputy with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office is recovering after a crash Saturday night.
The sheriff’s office tells us that just after 6 p.m. a deputy was finishing a traffic stop when a car drove by at a high rate of speed.
While the deputy was attempting to get the driver to stop, the car struck another vehicle.
Trying to avoid a crash, the deputy swerved causing their vehicle to go airborne.
The sheriff’s office says that the deputy will need surgery but is expected to make a full recovery.
Officials say that they are actively looking for the suspect involved in this crash.
