ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers are investigating a head-on crash in Rowan County Friday afternoon that left one person dead and four others hurt.
The wreck happened at around 3:15 p.m. on Lentz Road near Highway 29.
Highway Patrol said a car traveling north came to a curve, traveled over the centerline and collided head-on with the pick-up truck traveling south. The car then went off the road and down an embankment.
According to authorities, the driver of the car died at the scene, and a passenger was thrown from the vehicle and airlifted to a local hospital. A third passenger in the car as well as the driver and passenger of the pick-up truck were also taken to a hospital for their injuries.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the crash, where the car and truck could be seen badly damaged. Several police cars and fire trucks were also at the scene.
The road is shut down while crews investigate the scene.
