KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A person is dead after they were hit by a train Friday morning in downtown Kings Mountain, according to police.
Officers said the incident happened along Railroad Avenue at Oak Street, just a couple of blocks south of West King Street. Channel 9 arrived at about 5:15 a.m.

There were passengers on the train at the time of the crash, police said. There is no information yet on if anyone else was hurt.
Channel 9 has reached out to Amtrak for more information.
Police are still investigating what caused the crash and what charges, if any, will be filed.
