CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested a man for bringing guns to Central Piedmont Community College.
In a parking lot behind the central high building on CPCC's uptown campus, a security guard says 27-year-old Justin Perrin was acting strangely around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
CPCC spokesman Jeff Lowrance says after a brief conversation with the guard, Perrin said some alarming things.
"The officer spotted a young man who appeared to have been lost or confused," said Lowrance. "He did mention school shootings and of course that concerned our security officer."
And that's when Lowrance says the officer asked to look inside Perrin's car and found a shotgun, knife and pellet gun.
It's illegal to bring weapons on a college campus.
The university sent an email to students and staff Friday night with details.
New student Laquan Joesph hopes Perrin didn't have any bad intentions.
"I think it's rare to actually happen. I don't really think about it. I'm just cautious of my surroundings," said Joseph.
The college says Perrin isn't a student and never applied to be one.
He's now charged with a misdemeanor for possession of weapons on school grounds.
