CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte man has been arrested two months after he caused a deadly car crash, police say.
According to warrants, 26-year-old Alan Ariel Melgar was driving while impaired along Archdale Drive in October when he veered off the road and hit a tree.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Melgar’s passenger, 22-year-old Ever Elizand Castillo-Guardado, died at the scene.

Melgar was also seriously hurt in the crash.
CMPD said he’s charged with felony death by motor vehicle.
Neither were wearing their seatbelts, CMPD said.
