Police looking for suspects involved in armed robbery, holding child at gunpoint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for three people who are accused of breaking into a family’s home and holding an 11-year-old girl at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

Five people were in the home in Charlotte’s Olde Stonehaven neighborhood, including three children, ages 11 and two 2-year-olds.

Police say the suspects kicked in the front door, allegedly put a gun to the head of an 11-year-old and stole electronic items, gifts and money.

All five of the people in the home were assaulted, according to officers.

“This neighborhood has always been insanely safe, like I could walk my dog when I was 7 and not have to worry about anyone hurting me,” said Christine Dawson, who grew up in the neighborhood.

Other neighbors agreed.

“The most dangerous thing I’ve heard of is a fox running around the neighborhood,” neighbor Jeff Whitesell said.

“That blows my mind, that definitely blows my mind,” Dawson said. “Children are so innocent. How could you live with yourself?”
