CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for a man who flew a drone into the tallest building in uptown Charlotte Wednesday evening.

According to police, the drone hit the sixth floor of the Bank of America building on South Tryon Street around 7 p.m., causing minor damage.

The suspect is described as a white man last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, khaki cargo shorts, white socks and black boots.

Police said he could face reckless endangerment and damage to property charges.

Police said they’re seeing more drones flying around uptown, which can raise a whole set of potential problems.

“Yes, it’s a high concern. Just to think about the safety of other students as well,” Johnson and Wales University student Eriq Hampton said.

And with all of the high-rise apartments and condos, drones hovering outside windows raise the question of privacy.

“Definitely if it has a camera on it, because you don't know what kind of person he or she is. Like, some windows, you can't even tell if they're watching you or not,” resident Jonathan Lafleur said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has strict rules about where drones can fly and when.
