Police looking for 2 suspects after armed robbery at east Charlotte pharmacy

CHARLOTTE — Police are searching for two suspects accused of an armed robbery at a pharmacy in east Charlotte Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. at the Healthy Living Pharmacy on N. Sharon Amity Road, near Central Avenue.

Channel 9 talked to the pharmacist who was inside at the time of the robbery and he said he was giving a COVID-19 shot when the suspects stormed the store demanding narcotics.

“One of them jumped over the counter and as one held us up here so we wouldn’t move stuff like that,” he said.

The pharmacist told Channel 9 he told the suspects that he didn’t have the drugs they requested and that’s when one of them pistol whipped him.

“As soon as I got here he hit me with a gun,” the pharmacist said.

The suspects were last seen leaving the area in a vehicle, but authorities did not give a description.

We spoke with several businesses in the area who said this type of crime is unusual. It also comes as robberies overall in Charlotte are down 23% for the year and commercial robberies like this one are down 47%.

If you know anything about this case, you are asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
