FORT MILL, S.C. — Police said a man died after being shot at a York County gas station late Friday night, and the suspect has been arrested.
Officers said Anquante El-Malik Lemel Watts, 23, faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Friday at the Circle K gas station along U.S. Highway 21 Bypass.
When officers got to the area, they found a man surrounded by a large group of people. He had been shot.
The victim, Sy’Veon My’Veon Howard, of Lancaster, was seriously hurt and was taken to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, but later died from his injuries.

Detectives said the shots fired at the victim came from inside what appeared to be a gold-colored vehicle. Fort Mill police said it could be a Honda Accord and it was occupied by two people, a man and a woman.
Police said the car immediately drove away after the shooting on Sutton Road toward Interstate 77.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.
