CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in a deadly shooting Wednesday afternoon in north Charlotte.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., investigators responded to the parking lot of a shopping center at the corner of North Graham and West 24th streets, CMPD said.
Police said Charles Jimmie Maxie, Jr., 46, had been shot and died later at the hospital.
On Thursday, investigators arrested the suspect, Cedric Thompson, 29, and charged him with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
“There’s not a homicide that’s going to occur in the city that’s not frustrating,” CMPD Maj. Ryan Butler said. “Every homicide is the loss of an individual life.”
