Man wanted in deadly Charlotte strip mall shooting arrested after weeks on the run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said they have a arrested a man who was wanted in a deadly shooting at a southwest Charlotte strip mall last month.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 1 at a strip mall on South Tryon Street, just north of Arrowood Road.

When officers got to the shopping center, they found Solomon Fleming Jr., 22, who had been shot. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said 20-year-old Jamie Marcel Graham Jr. was charged with Fleming’s murder but was on the run. He was arrested on Wednesday by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team with the assistance of officers from the CMPD K9 Unit and Providence Division.

Graham has been charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.

Fleming’s death marked the 71st homicide of the year for the city of Charlotte.
