CHARLOTTE — One person is dead after a hit-and-run in southwest Charlotte on Saturday night, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to West Arrowood Road for a car crash. Members of the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC responded to this scene as well.
At the scene, police found a 2005 Ford Mustang off the right side of the road near a tree with heavy damage to the passenger side. They also found a 2013 Chevy Camaro with heavy damage to the front end.

CMPD found the driver of the Mustang suffering from serious injuries; they were taken to the hospital by MEDIC.
MEDIC says the driver of the Mustang died from their injuries on the way to the hospital.
CMPD says the driver of the Camaro, 24-year-old Paulo Alexis Ramos Avila, was driving west on West Arrowood Road and speeding. The driver of the Mustang, 17-year-old Ivan Morales Galvez, was on the east side of the road in the left turn lane at the intersection of Bramblewood Drive.
Police say Galvez tried to turn left onto Bramblewood Drive when his car was hit by Avila’s Camaro. The crash caused the Mustang to spin 180 degrees off the right side of the road and into a tree.
Officers say Avila then got out of his Camaro and ran away. He was soon found and arrested.
Police say Avila was not impaired at the time of the crash, but say speeding was a cause of the crash.
Avila was charged with second-degree murder, careless and reckless driving, and driving without a license.
Both men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to CMPD.
