CHARLOTTE — A crash involving a Mecklenburg County sheriff’s deputy shut down a portion of North Tryon Street in University City early Monday morning.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on North Tryon Street, near the Interstate 85 connector and Sandy Avenue.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash but when Channel 9 got to the scene, our crew could see a Mecklenburg County sheriff’s deputy patrol car off the roadway and another vehicle a short distance away with front-end damage.
Several agencies responded to the scene, including MEDIC and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
MEDIC said no one was hurt in the crash.

North Tryon Street was closed in both directions at the I-85 connector and Sandy Avenue while police investigated the scene.
