CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No charges will be filed after a man was found shot to death inside a car in a north Charlotte neighborhood Saturday afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. on Henderson Circle, off Old Statesville Road.
Officials said officers were responding to a robbery and assault with a deadly weapon call when they found 26-year-old Julius Frazier with a gunshot wound inside a car parked in a driveway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We have a neighborhood that it's a Saturday afternoon, beautiful weather, people are out enjoying the day," CMPD Major David Robinson said. "To be interrupted by gunfire of any kind I think is offensive and should be to the community and have to deal with, that is something we don't take lightly."
The suspected shooter has been identified and interviewed, but police said they have decided to not file charges at this time.
Officials said the district attorney's office will review the decision, but the suspected shooter's name will not be released unless he is formally charged in the case.
This is the second homicide investigation of the day.
Early Saturday morning, officials said a man was found shot to death on a South End road. A second man showed up later at the hospital after being shot in the same incident, but is expected to be OK.
No other information has been released.
