CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police investigated after a man was found shot and killed just outside of uptown early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a home on Grandin Road, just off West Morehead Street, around 3:15 a.m. and found a man who had been shot inside.
Javaris Roberts, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available and police have not released any suspect information.
It is the third homicide in Charlotte in as many days, and marks the 27th homicide of the year.
Judy Williams, Mothers of Murdered Offspring founder, said something has to change.
“We need to get people to start thinking, 'let's take a chill pill, let's calm down a minute,'” Williams said. "When we have that many murders back-to-back it lets me know that people just aren't thinking."
Two weeks ago, Charlotte-Mecklenburg said a summer initiative to reduce violent crime appeared to be making some progress, but they also said it would take community involvement to keep those shootings from turning into homicides.
The latest run of violence started early Monday morning when two young men were shot and crashed into the Emergency Department at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Police have not yet made an arrest in the case or the other two since then.
Williams said Charlotte should not follow the lead of other cities with numbing murder rates, and she pleaded with anyone who will listen to stop the killing before it’s too late.
“I'm asking anybody out there. Please, don't change somebody else's life and your own. Because when you kill someone, you change your own life too," she said.
Detectives are trying to find and speak with any witnesses and are urging anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS.
