HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Residents in a Huntersville neighborhood are still feeling the impacts after dozens of shots were fired into a home on their street.

The incident happened early on Wednesday morning, around 3 a.m., in a neighborhood by Lyon Hill Lane. The police said no one inside was hurt.

Investigators couldn’t provide any more information but said they have not yet made any arrests. There is no active threat to the community, and detectives do not believe the shooting was random.

After the incident, neighbors spoke with Channel 9 about what they think caused the shooting and how they feel about the safety of their community. Faith Cockerman believes the home was targeted because of the number of shots fired.

“I saw in the video where the car scooted up, and it came back and started shooting. I think it was really crazy; you could tell they were definitely a target,” Cockerman said.

Cockerman also told Channel 9 that she and another neighbor saw a white car drive past that house and then come back to fire the shots. She also noted how shocked she was that something like this would even happen in her neighborhood.

“Lots of kids, nice neighbors; I never thought anything like this would happen; it’s just really crazy; I wasn’t expecting that,” Cockerman said.
