Police investigate several complaints of neglect at Salisbury nursing home

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Salisbury Police Department said it has received several complaints of neglect at the Citadel nursing home.

Detectives said they conducted a follow-up investigation Thursday morning at the care facility with personnel from the Department of Social Services and the Rowan County Health Department.

Officials said staff members at the Citadel cooperated with police.

Authorities said their investigation did not turn up any evidence of criminal neglect.

According to officials, the investigation is now closed unless they receive additional complaints.

Authorities said any detectives who went inside the nursing home wore personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19. They also said a crime scene truck that was at the facility was for authorities to change into proper PPE.
