CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for a gunman on the run after they said a man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a north Charlotte gas station Sunday evening.
Officers responded to the shooting just after 6:30 p.m. outside the Shell gas station on Mallard Creek Road.

When they got to the gas station, police found the victim, 36-year-old Patrick Alston. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Channel 9 was the first local news station at the gas station, where the entire area was roped off with crime scene tape.

Alston's death marked Charlotte's 11th homicide investigation this month.

Police haven't released any information about the suspected shooter.
