Police: Hough HS student charged after social media threat, bringing airsoft gun to campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cornelius police said a Hough High School student has been charged after officers investigated a post on social media.

Officials said the post itself was not threatening, but while investigating, they said they discovered the student brought an airsoft gun to school Wednesday and showed it to some students in class.

Police said the student is now charged with a misdemeanor possession of a firearm on school grounds.

The principal sent a message home to parents about the social media post.
