Police: Hopewell HS placed on lockdown after 5 students crash stolen car near campus

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Hopewell High School went on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after police said five students crashed a stolen car right outside campus.

Huntersville police said it happened around 11:30 a.m.

Officials said officers arrested four suspects after they ran from the crash. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said two of the students were caught inside Hopewell.

Police are still looking for one suspect.

Authorities said they believe the car was stolen out of Charlotte.

No other information has been released.
