CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a driver hit and killed someone walking along a road in southeast Charlotte late Friday night.
The crash happened just before midnight on Monroe Road, near Wendover Road.
Authorities said a driver was traveling along the road when Christopher Duckett ran out in front of the vehicle. The victim was not in a crosswalk. According to officers, it was raining slightly and the road was not well lit. Duckett was also wearing dark clothing.
Duckett was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Police said the driver of the car that struck him stopped at the scene and called 911.
Monroe Road was shut down for several hours while police continued to investigate.
