CHARLOTTE — A source told Channel 9 that a police chase occurred in University City Tuesday afternoon.
It came to an end near an apartment complex just off University City Boulevard near Interstate 485.
Channel 9 crews observed a handful of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cars in the area.
Sources said they saw a suspect jump out of the vehicle and run off.

People who live in the area said they were startled by all the police cars scattered throughout the neighborhood.
“I was getting off the bus, and there was a bunch of police at the 7/11. Going down the street, I saw the helicopter right here. Looking in the parking lot, there were police, and I thought, ‘Dang, something must have happened because there was a bunch of police everywhere,’” said resident Malani Davis.
Channel 9 has reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to find out what prompted the chase.
It is unclear if any charges will be filed in this case.
