SALISBURY, N.C. — Police in Salisbury were investigating after a body was found in a wooded area near an apartment complex early Friday morning.
Officers were called to the Zion Hills Apartments around 8 a.m. for a shooting call and found Reggie Burke, 30, shot to death in the woods.
Investigators have not released any other details surrounding the death but said that Burke was found in the woods near the playground in the apartment complex.
Community Watch signs are posted all across the complex and neighbors told Channel 9 that they frequently have gatherings and it is a tight-knit community.

With school out for the summer, neighbors said they are troubled that the shooting took place so close to an area where kids play all the time.
"Kids could have been out here early this morning,” said Ambria Hawkins. “It could have hit one of them. A bullet would hit anything. It's summertime, you know they are out here early. After breakfast they out playing."
Police said they would be investigating the scene all day.
