CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they have arrested a suspect in connection with a murder in east Charlotte.
Police said they charged Jessie Benton with the murder and armed robbery of Jose Chicas.
Officers said Chicas’ body was found by a jogger on Milton Road June 21.
A police report said Chicas had suffered stab wounds.
During the investigation, detectives identified Benton as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
VCAT located and arrested Benton without incident early Thursday morning. He was turned over to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
