GASTONIA, N.C. — Police said a disturbance Wednesday at a Gastonia home led to shots being fired on a busy road.

A woman told Channel 9 shots were fired at her and her daughters as they drove away from a domestic dispute on Crowders Woods Drive.

Tasantia Thompson said her 21-year-old daughter made a FaceTime call from her boyfriend's home, and she could see her daughter being beaten by people at the house.

Thompson said she drove over from Charlotte and called 911. She said there was a fight when she arrived at the home, and she and her daughters drove away as shots were fired at them.

Thompson said the shooter followed them, firing shots as they drove at 70 mph.

The shooting continued until Gastonia police caught up to both cars at Franklin Boulevard and Archie Whitesides Road.

"Kids are not supposed to have firearms that powerful. Families should be able to get along. If you have a disagreement, you should be about to talk it out instead of bringing a gun to the fight. There is not a life you can replace here today," Thompson said.

Police said witnesses directed them to a gun that was recovered, and they arrested two people.

One of Thompson's daughters went to the hospital for pain in the side, but no one was shot.
