ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police are investigating after they said two people were shot to death and another was hospitalized Wednesday night in Rock Hill.
The shooting happened at about 7 p.m. on Blake Street, off Saluda Street.
Police said when they arrived, they found two people shot. Jimmy Williamson, 26, died at the scene and the other was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with serious injuries.
Williamson's father, Jimmy Williamson III, told Channel 9 his son leaves behind five children. He said he checked the messages on his phone and immediately went to the shooting scene.
"I jumped out of bed and went down to Blake Street, and it was reality," Jimmy Williams said.
Another shooting victim, 18-year-old Mekhi Rawlinson, showed up later in a private vehicle at Piedmont Medical Center with serious injuries.
On Thursday morning, police told Channel 9 that Rawlinson had also died.
His family told Channel 9 that he played football at York Comprehensive High School. They said they're in shock over his death.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that they heard five shots out in the street. One witness opened his door and saw a man yelling at one of the victims to get up, and was trying to get him into a car.
Another man ran down the street and banged on a neighbor's door, yelling that he'd been shot.
That neighbor, Sammy Poage, told Channel 9 that he and his wife had just walked in the door from dinner when they heard the man outside yelling for help.
He said they called 911 and waited for paramedics.
"When they came, I came outside and this guy here had been shot, and they worked on him and they air-lifted him to Charlotte," Poage said.
Investigators have not released the name of the third person who was shot. That victim is still at CMC in Charlotte with life-threatening injuries.
Family members said Williamson and Rawlinson knew each other well, but the families didn't know who the third victim is in the case.
Police have not made any arrests and have not said what may have led to the shootings, but did say they are not looking for anyone else.
Williamson just wants to know who took his son's life.
"I'm trying to find answers myself. I don't know what's going on, but I wish someone would come forward and say something," Williams said.
The investigation is ongoing.
