CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority officials want to add a new hotel to the city's Convention Center.

They presented the plan to Charlotte City Council members Monday night.

The hotel would have 1,000 rooms and would go next to the Convention Center.

CRVA officials didn't say how much it would cost but said the city needs it to compete.

“Austin and Nashville, in particular, we compete head-to-head with -- they have multiple hotels like this now,” CRVA CEO Thomas Murray said.
