MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A plane carrying a banner crashed near a public beach access Monday morning in Myrtle Beach.
Police told our news partners at WPDE that one person was on board a private plane when it crashed into the water near the 40th Avenue North beach access.
The plane, a Piper PA-12, was still in the water just feet from beach-goers until Monday afternoon, live pictures from WPDE showed.
According to FAA records based on the plane’s tail number, the plane is registered to Barnstormers Aerial Advertising.
It’s not clear what led to the crash, but an investigation is underway.
