Pioneer in nail care sees room to grow in Charlotte market

CHARLOTTE — Varnish Lane CEO Lauren Dunne wants to carve out a niche in Charlotte.

The nationally recognized nail-care destination opened its first location in South End around the end of 2021. Now, she sees room for up to four additional locations here — with a search for the perfect spaces ongoing.

“We always knew we wanted to grow and expand,” Lauren says. “We really liked the idea of expanding in the Southeast.”

South End’s 10-chair salon offers the brand’s signature waterless manicure and pedicure services. It is on the ground floor of the Hawk Apartments at 1932 Hawkins St.

Dunne founded the concept, with her mother Carrie, in 2015.
