BLOWING ROCK, N.C. — Channel 9 meteorologist Jaclyn Shearer was in Blowing Rock Friday morning reporting on the frigid conditions when just feet away, three large pine trees crashed through the roof of a local business.
Nobody was inside the Blowing Rock Market and Wine Shop when the trees fell just before 7 a.m. but the owner said they'd be open Friday and hopes to have the roof repaired over the weekend.

“There's two huge holes in the roof, the roof's in pretty bad shape,” David Barker told Shearer. “There's branches that came through the ceiling…we have hot coffee and cold beer, we're still going.”
Shearer was reporting on strong winds at the time and Barker said he thought a gust of close to 50 mph probably knocked the trees down.
He estimates the trees caused $10,000 worth of damage.
