The first day of the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh is Thursday.
Officials want a stronger turnout than last year when more than 824,000 people attended, which is the lowest attendance since 2008.
The fair runs through Oct. 23.
If you’re planning on going, there is a wide array of new food available this year, including Pepsi-glazed mini donuts and chicken-bacon-ranch waffle sticks.
