CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman has died after being struck by a car in south Charlotte Saturday afternoon, police said.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Providence Road between International Drive and Old Providence Road.
Rhonda Cook, 52, was taken to Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center, where she died.
Authorities said Cook was crossing the road when she was hit by a 2008 Nissan Altima. Cook was not using a crosswalk when she was struck, according to police.
No charges have been filed at this point.
The driver and her passenger in the car were not hurt in the crash, officials said.
The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene.
No other details have been released.
